off-shoulder options

As we all know, “off shoulders” is very big this summer. I really love the trend, but I’ve yet to find something for myself. My one big question about it is, please tell me: is it comfortable?

Nevertheless, when I saw this new Marie Hell one-sleeved tunic, besides finding it striking, there was something compelling about it. I didn’t know if I would feel comfortable in it, and I didn’t know if it would look good on me but I had to try it on, so I called up and ordered my Game tunic.

The compelling thing about the tunic, turned out to be a very pleasant thing indeed. It’s so much fun to wear!

It feels edgy and comfortable. Sure, it’s a statement. Look, one sleeve! But the asymmetry also makes it elegant and, like all Marie Hell tunics and dresses, the fabric feels wonderful.

I know I look good in brown, but brown can be a very tough color; it’s hard to find a good brown. This one is; it’s a rich, chocolate brown. I’m wearing the tunic, but you can also order the longer Game dress, and it also comes in an equally rich-looking navy and camel.

Marie Hell gives you other options for your shoulders.

One of those options is the Flaunt dress.

The other is the Peek.

Ladies, we have options. If you haven’t checked Marie Hell out before, go here.

P.S. The bathing suit is coming very, very soon…

  • Wow, this is a new option to me and doesn’t it look pretty!

    • Anita Irlen says:

Cathy, I think you would look good in any one of these styles! They’re fun, let’s face it there are just so many things we can do with a dress. Details are so important, as are the lack of fidgety ones, and that’s why I like these otherwise simple dresses.

  • Andrea Bates says:

It looks pretty – but I think I’d be distracted by the one sleeve! I do love the one that’s off-shoulder but has tank straps, I think that might benefit someone like me who couldn’t go braless and could cover my straps!

    • Anita Irlen says:

Andrea, I know what you mean about the distraction factor. That was one of the things that was kind of weird and compelling for me, I the easily distracted, was not. And yes, if you must wear a bra this trend is maybe not for you, and I hate strapless bras! 🙁 Alas, I am not bosomy.

  • Anita you look SO great!!!! I can’t wait to see you.

  • Carla says:

As a long time lover of the one shoulder/off the shoulder I only have two words for you :-): thank you

  • Paula Kiger says:

Wow – those are so pretty!

  • I love the look of that tunic on you. I’m struggling with the condition of my arms, a bit, and yet still wearing whatever I want. I think this tunic would be fun to wear–it’s handling the heat of summer?

    • Anita Irlen says:

Walker, I like how you say the “condition” of my arms. I know what you mean and part of me feels exactly the same way. It has become however a real mission for me to deal with this body part thing and us older women. Generally speaking, I’m not of the “wear what you want school.” (Although, of course, people will and that’s their choice.) I do think there’s such a thing as taste. That said, I see women everyday saying awful things about different parts of their bodies. It’s so destructive, not to mention useless. We are getting old and that’s that and that’s ok! I want to find ways to cover/uncover and be creative so that I can wear sexier, more revealing, and ultimately more comfortable clothes. That’s my little style/fashion project for the summer. I do think it’s possible. Let’s see what I come up with.

For me, the tunic has been fine on days that it’s not over about 75, but I tend to run cold rather than hot 🙂

  • Esther Zimmer says:

    Anita, you look so great!

I love this tunic on you and the dresses you suggested are all gorgeous! I too like the ‘off shoulders’ styles going around this summer – but I love that you’ve uncovered in a different way. It’s refreshing. Sometimes when a style is really popular, it can get boring – no chance of that with this look!

    Esther xx

  • I love your other two options but have never been crazy about the one shoulder look. Brenda
