“Long live the queen, kill the queen!” That, I suppose is my “The king is dead, long live the king!”

The king is dead, long live the king!

A traditional proclamation made following the accession of a new monarch in various countries. The seemingly contradictory phrase is used to simultaneously announce the death of the previous monarch and assure the public of continuity by saluting the new monarch.

Kamala was a prosecutor, Elizabeth is bland, Tulsi said…, Kirsten once had a 100% approval rating from the NRA, and what about Her emails?

We want women to lead, but then when they do we are quick to want them gone, or failed. And fellow women, I’m afraid, are often the worst.

I’m not of the belief that women get a pass just because they’re women, see my post about Michelle Wolf, but this quick “slash and burn” the women candidates is, at the least a drag, and at its worst, a danger to women’s rights.

Not to get overly militaristic, but let’s remember “divide and conquer.” It happened last time around in regard to socioeconomics. It can happen again.

Given the number of women (yay) who are running in 2020, it’s a perfect time for those who feel threatened to take advantage of the least bit of discord.

Yes Virginia, there are some times when it’s more important to stick together than other times. And this is one of them.

These babouche shoes are from Vision Quest Shoes, and they’re something to be checked out. They’re made in L.A., up-cycled from deadstock, and lined in leather and memory foam.

While I mostly dress in black and solid, “neutral” colors, I’ve always been partial to red shoes. One of my readers commented, after this post, that she found it difficult to dress in a more classic or “minimal” style as she got older, and I do understand this.

That’s where things like red shoes can help, to kick an otherwise simple look up a sophisticated notch.

I’ve tried a pair of these on in my friend’s, Marcia’s, shop, and they’re very comfortable. I’m showing them off today because I love this color, but there are many other colors and not all of them are this “hair-on-calf” style.
