Even though she is dark-haired and dressed in black, Henya drew me to her communal table at Le Pain Quotidien. Some people just shine.
When I asked if I could take her picture, she graciously agreed. When I asked her what she did (so American of me!), she said “Oh, I write.” Loved that she didn’t feel the need to say, I’m a Writer. For all I know she is famous in her native Israel, but either way, she was so sweet and humble. It was refreshing.
